Sandee

Sandra “Sandee” Casanas was born in South Florida. She performed with Menudo and The Cover Girls. Before going solo, Sandee was one of the original members of freestyle girl group, Expose.

Sandee recorded the original versions of Expose’s songs “Point of No Return” and “Exposed to Love” which became very successful dance hits. After the release of these two singles, the original members of Expose split up. By the time Expose was prepared to record their third single, they had a completely different lineup. After Sandee left the group, she moved on to pursue a solo music career.

In 1987, Sandee released her first single,”You’re The One” which fared better, peaking at #11 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart. In 1988, Sandee appeared on Will To Power’s debut album.

In 1989, Sandee released her second single, “Notice Me” which became a hit, peaking at #9 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart, #17 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart, and #62 on Billboard’s Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.

In 1991, Sandee released her debut album, “Only Time Will Tell.” The sole single from the album, “Love Desire” became Sandee’s biggest hit to date, peaking at #49 on the Billboard Hot 100, #5 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart, #21 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart, and #83 on Billboard’s Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.

After that, it seemed that Sandee laid low for awhile. According to a blog entry on her MySpace page, she was doing shows and working on some new music tracks. But tragically on December 15, 2008, Sandee passed away in Hollywood, California at the age of 46.

She will be missed very, very much.
